Course Objectives

Organisations often launch/initiate projects without proper evaluations or ensuring alignment to strategic and business objectives. Later, these projects are either cancelled, or encounter serious challenges, or fail completely. It is our view that successful projects must be launched properly to minimize later challenges or threats and to maximize the opportunities, hence the need for properly Launching the Project.

DESCRIPTION

This course is part of the core learning for the SUKAD Master Certificate in Project Management, and includes the initiation of a learning project for the SUKAD Master Certificate in Project Management. It could also be taken independent of the Master Certificate.

The course covers three parts:

  • Overview of the SUKAD Master Certificate programme
  • The SUKAD Customizable and Adaptable Methodology for Projects (CAMP™) – a simplified process
  • Plan for team optimization and learning
  • Select an appropriate learning project form construction environment

Part 2: The pre-launch stage

  • Define project selection and success criteria
  • Compile a project authorization document

Part 3: The launch stage

  • Initiate the value management process
  • Select and prepare the people

Course Outline

The course includes a significant proportion of practical exercises towards developing the early documents required to plan and execute a project of participant’s choice.  For those taking the course as part of the Master Certificate they would also be required to carry out assignments after the class and before the next Master Certificate Class and they will do so under the supervision of a SUKAD Advisor
