What is the SUKAD Model?

The following section explains the main characteristics of The SUKAD Model: The Customizable and Adaptable Methodology for Managing Projects™.
1. It is a methodology for managing single projects.
2. The methodology takes a holistic view of a project. Therefore, it is a project life span methodology that covers a project from idea to closure and beyond.
3. The methodology emphasizes the whole project and phases, rather than functions within Project Management, such as scope or time.
4. It is intended to be simplified, practical, and systematic. However, we must re-emphasize that “simplified” does not mean simple.
5. It emphasizes a disciplined approach to Project Management, yet stresses the need for flexibility.
6. The discipline is represented via the distinct stages and stage gates, and the flexibility is represented via the customizable and adaptable principles.
7. The stage gates should be formal interim reviews where there is an approval or acceptance of prior stage work and authorization to proceed to the next stage.
8. The methodology is common and utilized in organizations with mature Project Management system and processes, i.e. it is proven. However, it’s not as known and formally recognized in a large number of organizations, especially those new to Project Management.
9. Although The SUKAD Model offers a standard methodology, one size does not fit all. This means that one solution is not the correct answer for various environments and situations.
10. Due to the above, the model is designed to be flexible, hence the CAM2P™ concept, where CAM2P™ stands for Customizable and Adaptable Methodology for Managing Projects.
a. Customizable: It is about the flexibility to customize the model to different industries or even to specific organizations.
b. Adaptable: It is about the flexibility to adapt the model to pre-established project classification or characteristics such as importance, complexity, and size. This would be done at a business unit level or for a type of project.
11. The Model is generally in line with various global standards and frameworks for Project Management, which are globally accepted. In other words, it is aligned to "A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge" (PMBOK® Guide) although it is not restricted by the guide or limited to it.
